Once constructed, the Stratford Cherry Park project will be one of London’s largest single-site PRS schemes. It will consist of 1,200 homes over nine high-rise blocks valued at £670M. Walsh were appointed at the technical design stage of the project to deliver the residential led, high density, mixed use scheme that also includes an 11,000 square metre extension to the existing Westfield Stratford Shopping Centre. The blocks will also be constructed over a two storey basement. As we analysed the capacity of existing structures to provide support, we were also required to work around an existing DLR tunnel. Thanks to our engineering input, our client found multiple areas for maximising value. Our results proved the viability of a reduced number of piles and a lower volume of concrete and RC.
