The Island Point scheme, on the Isle of Dogs in East London, created 173 residential houses and maisonettes in blocks four to six storeys high. Each block uses a concrete frame on piled foundations. Walsh’s main task for this project was providing detailed design and Reinforced Concrete (RC) specification details. We also carried out Cut and Fill analysis to evaluate proposed external ground levels. The site, by the River Thames, is located in Flood Zone 3. As a result, Flood Risk Assessments were also undertaken. They recommended raising the external level to a minimum 300mm above peak flood level.
