This award-winning development provided 455 one and two-bedroom flats in Hemel Hempstead. Set in the former Kodak Tower, the area’s tallest building, the mixed-use renovation project won the “Best High Rise Development” prize in the 2009 UK Property Awards. It now serves commuters, businesses, investors and retailers alike. The bottom two floors of the 20-storey block remained as office space whilst the upper floors were redeveloped as residential units. Within the refurbished structure, the layout of these apartments required the removal of large sections of existing core wall and the creation of additional openings through the reinforced concrete ribbed slabs. Walsh engineers provided structural modelling at every stage of the works to ensure structural integrity was maintained at all times.
