The N06 project, in East London, followed on from sister project Victory Plaza, formerly known as N08, in the same East Village area. Walsh was engaged directly with the developer to work up the new planning application. This meant collaborating with design teams from the other East Village plots. Our aim was to challenge the architectural form and function of the buildings by introducing a new dynamic block that significantly enhanced the village community and its amenities. The apartments themselves enjoy internal solarium spaces in lieu of traditional balcony spaces. The most significant of the block’s features is a 26m long sky bridge, on the 10th floor, which links rooftop spaces.

Our engineers developed NO6’s structure to the client brief using the principles of the frame learned from the previous NO8 construction. Key challenges included the coordination of the core design and managing structural performance. The design of the sky bridge also required particularly novel and innovative thinking.
